LC72AY-1 is a miniature thermal cutoff (TCO) device designed for overtemperature and overcurrent protection in lithium polymer and prismatic battery cells. It features a trip temperature of 72 °C ± 5 °C with a reset temperature of 40 °C minimum, and controls abnormal excessive current virtually instantaneously through a bimetal disc mechanism. The device is rated for DC9V / 12 A at 6000 cycles for normal operation, with maximum breaking capability of DC5V / 40 A (100 cycles) and DC28V / 5 A (100 cycles), while maintaining a contact resistance of 10 ± 5 milliohms maximum and maximum leakage current of 150 mA at 25 °C. This low-current type TCO is widely used in battery cell protection applications for notebook PCs, tablet PCs, smartphones, and mobile phones, offering reliable protection with RoHS compliance and halogen-free construction.
