The CAR1A40DC12 is an automotive relay from the CAR&CART 30/40 series designed for high-current DC switching in automotive systems. It features a 1 Form A and 1 Form C contact arrangement with a maximum switching current of 40 A at 75 VDC, a contact rating of 30/40 A at 14 VDC (NO) and 20/30 A at 14 VDC (NC), and silver alloy contacts with 50 mO contact resistance. The 12 VDC coil has a nominal pickup voltage of 8.4 VDC maximum, dropout voltage of 1.2 VDC minimum, and coil resistance of 80 O ±10%, with an operate time and release time of =10 ms each. The relay is rated for -40°C to +85°C ambient temperature, withstands 147 m/s² shock and 10–40 Hz vibration at 1.27 mm displacement, and achieves 1×106 mechanical life cycles and 1×105 electrical life cycles. It is commonly used in automotive power distribution, motor control, and load switching applications where high reliability and compact sealed design are required.
