The MOC8050M is a photodarlington-type optocoupler designed to provide electrical isolation between input and output circuits. This device integrates a gallium arsenide infrared emitting diode optically coupled to a silicon darlington phototransistor within a 6-pin DIP package. It features a high collector-emitter breakdown voltage (BVCEO) of at least 80 V and a minimum current transfer ratio (CTR) of 500%. The design incorporates no base connection for improved noise immunity and provides a high isolation voltage of 4,170 VACRMS. Common applications include I/O interfaces for computers, programmable controllers, solid-state relays, and interfacing systems with different potentials and impedances.
