The MP7227-R is a miniature MEMS catalytic combustible gas sensor designed for hazardous area applications in a certified flameproof enclosure. It operates at a DC supply voltage of 2.9 to 3.1 V with typical power consumption of 37.0 to 41.0 mA in continuous mode, and supports ultra-low power pulsed operation with a minimum ON pulse time of 300 ms. The sensor delivers a minimum sensitivity of 8 mV/% methane, a response time (T90) of less than 12 seconds, and is optimized for methane detection up to 5% volume in air while also detecting other flammable gases and vapours. It features excellent long-term stability with zero drift less than 1.0 mV/month and sensitivity drift less than 0.6 mV/month, making it ideal for battery-operated mining and industrial safety instruments that require both compact size and extended operational life.
